18th CHARITY WALK FOR THE ANIMALS

On Sunday, 16.10.2022, a small group of motivated GASAH supporters took part in our 18th charity run in Sevelen SG.

It was a wonderful walk, especially in this beautiful autumn weather. The walk was complemented with a great aperitif. It was nice to see familiar faces, but also new ones, and we are very happy that we can help the animals on Kos with this event.

A big thank you to everyone who took part!

17th DOG WALK IN THALWIL

We met at 10am at the motorway subway in Gattikon. Ilka Manser had prepared an approx. 2-hour walk and greeted the 7 participants with a smile on her face. Of course there were as many four-legged as two-legged participants. They also had to greet each other intensively, and we were all curious to see how our pack would form. Many of the participating furry friends were rescued dogs from the island of Kos.

The weather was overcast, which was very pleasant for us in the heat we were experiencing at the moment. We set off into the woods, and little by little our four-legged friends were allowed to roam freely. The sun came out and we reached the first fountain. After some had quenched their thirst, stood up with their front paws at the well trough, little Struppi decided to take a full bath and blissfully cooled off in the refreshing water for the longest time. Until we had all taken a photo of the bathing mermaid for sure. Soon we came to the next fountain and the hill near the ‘Schützenhaus’, where we could enjoy the view for the first time. But the view got better and better… First a photo session at Ebnet, then down to the restaurant ‘Frohe Aussicht’, where a long table had been lovingly laid for our lively club, and a very tasty aperitif (riche!) was served. We feasted on drinks, the delicious bread and tomato rolls, and after a coffee we started our way up the slope. The break had also been welcome for the dogs, as some of them had taken the longer way back and forth than us two-legged friends.

Now we started the way back through the forest. Several streams tempted us to refresh ourselves, and at the forest hut, little Struppi was the first to sit down photogenicly on a freshly built wooden bench. Soon Ruby did the same, and both were happy to be photographed. The picnic area near the fishing association was a little more time-consuming. There it was not so easy not to put one’s nose to the grill despite the fine smells. But it was a place with opportunities to promote the GASAH project. We almost lost Yuri there, because after a while we moved on – for the time being to the next photo opportunity, where some of the woofies peered photogenically and acrobatically through the hole of the big log artwork. In the photo you can see what Greyhounds think of it… We also had the chance to admire the last foxglove blossoms and then went to Ilka’s picnic spot in the middle of the green. Our furry friends lay peacefully and were partly fed. There was another lively round of chatting and Yuri also rejoined us. Whether it was man trailing or dog trailing? In any case, his dog had obviously pointed him in the wrong direction. With sun on our fur and in our hearts, we went back to the motorway subway, where we were already looking forward to the next meeting and wished those who had traveled far a good journey home.

A sunny, carefree, enjoyable, satisfied, happy Dog and Dog Guide Sunday, and a great cause on the part of GASAH with its tireless commitment to a little bit better world!

All donations will go to the animals on Kos!

We look forward to welcoming you again at the next event.

DOG WALK IN MEMORY OF CAROL SIEGENTHALER

Last Sunday, 14 determined, courageous animal lovers met in Domat Ems despite the very unfavourable weather forecast. The rain even came 2 hours earlier than expected, just in time for the start of our Dog Walk! We even had to shorten the shorter round because the rain was quite heavy. The otherwise so beautiful landscape was hardly to be seen…
But let’s look at the good sides of this day:
Thanks to your good mood, dear participants, you created a beautiful, happy and loving atmosphere. We were able to exchange thoughts, laugh and share beautiful memories of our dear Carol. A big thank you to all who were there! Also a big thank you to all those who could not be there but still supported us with a donation.

All donations will go to the animals on Kos!

We look forward to welcoming you again at the next event.

SEMINAR ABOUT "CRITERIA FOR HUMAN HAPPINESS"

On 23 July 2021, Marion Jarvis, author, life coach and GASAH President, held a seminar on “Criteria for Human Happiness – You are what you think”. Marion presented specific mental tools to ensure human happiness and less stress in any life situation. The seminar took place on Kos at the restaurant “Dolphin Bay” in Mastichari. The GASAH fundraiser was well frequented by wonderful people.

The donations collected for this seminar will go entirely to the benefit of the animals on Kos Island!

ZOOM LECTURE ON NON-VIOLENT DOG TRAINING ON 17/04/21

On Saturday 17 April, we had the pleasure of attending a Zoom lecture by dog trainer and psychologist Bettina Stemmler from the Initiative for Nonviolent Dog Training. She told us about competent, nonaversive training based on understanding the dog’s body language and thus avoiding putting pressure on the dog. Violence in dog training does not start with the electric shock collar, but already with psychological intimidation and jerking the leash, which can lead to injuries of the neck and throat region!
It was a very interesting lecture and many everyday questions of the participants could be answered.

The donations collected for this lecture will go entirely to the benefit of the animals on Kos Island!

CRYSTAL CAVE DOG WALK ON 10/10/2020

The weather forecast was not so convincing, the way for many was quite long, and nevertheless 16 people joined us and walked this dog walk to the crystal cave “Kobelwald”. And the weather was on our side after all.
With the donations we received from sponsors, we ended up with a total of CHF 1100.-
We are very happy to be able to help more animals on Kos Island!

Many thanks to all dog walkers and sponsors.

CORONA DOG WALK ON 21/06/2020

A dog walk of a different kind, every man for himself, so to speak. The lockdown is over, but it was too short notice to organise a local dog walk. So everyone could choose the route themselves. Twelve participants sent their photos and we collected CHF 1930.-
